Risks of arm sculpting include:
Deciding to undergo any plastic procedure is a highly personal choice. Therefore, you should balance any medical procedure's risks, side effects, benefits, and results.
The risks of arm sculpting may include:
• Bleeding, which is usually easily controlled during the early days of the recovery period.
• Swelling and bruising are normal after the sculpting procedure and will fade over time.
• Infection, which is rare due to the antibiotics taken during the recovery period.
• Fluid accumulation, which the doctor aims to prevent through the use of compression garments and drains.
• Body contour irregularities, which are prevented through the use of compression garments.
•Feeling some pain, which can be managed with mild pain relievers.
• Numbness, which may persist for some time before disappearing but does not cause any side effects.
The doctor will discuss these risks with you before undergoing any step and inform you about how to minimize them before starting the sculpting procedure.
Before Arm Sculpting:
The doctor may ask you to:
• Undergo tests and examinations to ensure your safety.
• Take certain medications and adjust the dosage of others.
• Quit smoking.
• Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, herbal medications, and supplements to prevent bleeding.
Arm sculpting can be performed at a specialized center or a hospital where the appropriate sterile environment is available.
Steps of arm sculpting:
The arm sculpting procedure involves several steps:
Step 1: Anesthesia
The sculpting procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The arms are injected with a saline solution and local anesthetic before starting.
Step 2: Surgical incision
Arm sculpting is done using VASER; in this case, a surgical incision is made between the folds of the arms. The diameter of the surgical incision does not exceed 1 cm.
Step 3: VASER
Through the surgical incision, VASER waves are directed to the fat to melt it and convert it into a liquid substance that can be suctioned out of the arms.
Step 4: Fat suction
After the fat is melted, a thin medical tube is inserted to suction it out of the body.
Step 5: Closure of the surgical incision
The surgical incision is closed with some cosmetic sutures, and then the wound is covered with medical dressings and compression bandages. The doctor may also place a thin medical tube (drainage) next to the incision to remove excess fluids from the body and prevent their accumulation.
Recovery Period after arm sculpting:
The doctor will provide you with some instructions for a better recovery, such as:
• Avoid any violent physical activities for some time until the sutures are removed.
• Massage the sculpted areas for at least half an hour daily to reduce swelling and prevent fluid buildup or body clumping.
• Consume plenty of vitamins and minerals and drink an adequate amount of water.
• Try to move as soon as possible to stimulate blood circulation.
• You can return to work within a few days and resume your daily tasks within a week.
• The sutures will be removed within one to two weeks, and after the sutures are removed, you can start engaging in light exercises such as walking.
• The doctor may prescribe some antibiotics to prevent infection and some pain relievers to alleviate any pain associated with swelling and bruising, in addition to some anti-inflammatory medications for blood thinning.
What are the results of arm sculpting?
The results of arm sculpting will be permanent as long as you can maintain a relatively stable weight without any sudden weight gain. The results take several months to stabilize completely; during this time, the swelling will subside, bruises will disappear, and collagen will work to make the skin contract and appear smoother and more youthful without any sagging or wrinkles.
